The Characteristic Of Organic Clothing


It is an uphill task to adopt and stick to the idea of using organic clothing. The raw materials are the cotton furs or leather which has to be truly organic in nature. The selection of traditional clothing is too simple and the variety is also vast. But, in the case of organic clothing the selections are limited.

In the traditional field you can go for selection and decide your requirements and in the case of organic clothing the requirement has to be assessed keeping in view of the availability. Additionally, what you select will have limited availability.

When you are truly serious about using organic clothing, you have to think of organic material as you decide about the raw material. One of the raw materials for organic clothing is animal based like fur or skin. But we are not sure whether the particular animals have been fed by organic grain or whether it has been given medical treatment. So a fool proof system of assessing the difference is impossible. On the other hand in the cotton field it is fairly easy to obtain organic cotton as the cotton production has organic base.

There are many fashion designers who take real interest in the organic clothing. But their number is in a minority and their impact insignificant. But it is also found that there are people who take keen interest in organic way and acquir expertise in sewing their own organic cloths and take pride in the fact that they have truly organic stuff on them.

The flip side of this story is the cost involved. Organic clothing is indeed costly as the raw materials incur more cost. Besides this the inconvenience of excess care needed for the upkeep of the organic clothing is also there. This upkeep starts right from the cotton farming. Another challenge peeping from the other side is the availability of organic dye for the cloth.

Whereas a number of short comings have been listed so far, there are many benefits too. The future will be indebted to us for the reduction of harmful chemicals we are adding every day. Look at the one of the essential chemicals named “Formaldehyde”, which is needed as an anti wrinkle agent for the traditional fabric. The harmful effect of this chemical has already been established and it causes allergy and sometimes cancer in severe cases.

Formaldehyde has got the best properties as an antiwrinkle agent. It helps for good upkeep of cloths. These properties are excellent and convenient. But for people who are susceptible for allergic reaction it is a very negative aspect. There is some progress to finding an alternative to formaldehyde but it has not reached a full conclusion yet.

The organic clothing to be kept as organic only as we have to be careful in selecting the detergents and soaps. It is always advisable to use organic cleaning materials only as the cotton cloths has the tendency to retain the chemical particles for a long time.
